7 billion... 6 billion too many

So, the population surpasses 7 billion. Time for celebration. Well, the earth only has a carrying capacity for 1 billion, if we all live to the standard the west enjoys.

And, as our "betters" in positions of "leadership" believe that they are going to drag everyone in the world out of poverty, I shan't be celebrating, just preparing for population collapse.

The scenes that we saw in our cities during the summer looting riots will be nothing compared to when Mother Nature says, "Enough is enough. Now fight for every last scrap!"

We live on a finite planet with finite resources. However, we are governed by idiot liberals who call anyone a racist for discussing population control and politicians who call for infinite economic growth.

It's only a matter of time before a collapse of some sort befalls us. High oil and food prices and financial instability are the symptoms. Where is the cure?

Have you seen this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-15391515

I assume it's supposed to make people think rather than being just a gimmick but so far, very few of the people I know who've seen it, have started to talk about overpopulation.

Yes, I did see that but I don't feel like posting links to the BBC anymore.

I had a play with it. Apparently, I was the 3,403,343,843rd person alive so the population has more than doubled since my birth.

It certainly feels like it has doubled.

A population crash will happen, but before that we will have an oil crash, and before that a massive financial crash which is starting now.

Without sounding alarmist, even mainstream newspapers (the FT yesterday) are predicting an uncontrolled default in greece which could cause a financial and social collapse in Europe.

Govts and central banks are well aware of this and will resort to QE (printing money) in Europe v soon. The net result will be hyperinflation in Europe in 2012-2013. These same conditions manifested pre-WorldWar 1 and WW2.

To quote Iron Maiden:
"Run to the hills, run for your lives".

My thoughts too, which is why I am converting cash to gold and silver.

Population control is a dangerous idea. It would be wrong to order someone on how many kids they can or can't have; that decision is for the couple to make. Also, should we get rid of the 'excess people', and who would decide who those are? That would be unethical and could be used to exterminate people of certain groups. The best solution would be to find more efficient ways of using our resources, without damage to the environment.

There will come a time when that simply doesn't work.

There is a limit to efficiency.
